Robert Reich: 4 Reasons Ted Cruz is Even More Dangerous than Donald Trump... in 2 minutes.

Robert Reich: 4 Reasons Ted Cruz is Even More Dangerous than Donald Trump... in 2 minutes.

1. Cruz is more fanatical. Sure, Trump is a bully and bigot, but he doesn’t hew to any sharp ideological line. Cruz is a fierce ideologue: He denies the existence of man-made climate change, rejects same-sex marriage, wants to abolish the Internal Revenue Service, believes the 2nd amendment guarantees everyone a right to guns. He doesn’t believe in a constitutional divide between church and state, favors the death penalty, rejects immigration reform, demands the repeal of Obamacare, and takes a strict “originalist” view of the meaning of the Constitution.

2. Cruz is a true believer. Trump has no firm principles except making money, getting attention, and gaining power. But Cruz has spent much of his life embracing radical right economic and political views.

3. Cruz is more disciplined and strategic. Trump is all over the place, often winging it, saying whatever pops into his mind. Cruz hews to a clear script and a carefully crafted strategy. He plays the long game (as he’s shown in Iowa).

4. Cruz is a loner who’s willing to destroy government institutions to get his way. Trump has spent his career using the federal government and making friends with big shots. Not Cruz. He has repeatedly led Republicans toward fiscal cliffs. In the Fall of 2013, his opposition to Obamacare led in a significant way to the shutdown of the federal government.

Both men would be disasters for America, but Ted Cruz would be the larger disaster.

"Cruz believes everyone should have guns." "Cruz believes in 'far right' economics." "Cruz believes doesn't believe in a separation of church and state." Well, this is pretty hilarious. Making claims about someone without any supporting evidence, isn't that just pointless slander? Also, doing one of these hit piece videos would be even better on Bernie Sanders haha.

Wow, you Cruz-Bots have no sense of reality whatsoever, do you?

Well this just makes me want to vote for him more!! Love this so much. GO CRUZ!!!

So he supports the 2nd Amendment, wants more research on climate change, is an avid follower of the Constitution, believes marriage should be decided by the states, wants to get rid of the IRS, believes in the death penalty, is strong on immigration, wants to reform the complete mess that is Obamacare (and will take a hard stance to do it), and is an absolutely brilliant man and attorney who "plays the long game" and actually thinks ahead strategically. These are the reasons he's so awful?? Wow. You just cemented my vote.

This is a clever way to get people to vote for Cruz. Actually I would vote for ANYONE but Trump.

This is a pointless argument. Trump vs Cruz. Neither one has any chance of being elected in a general election. There's a Reason republicans have lost 5 of the last 6 general presidential elections. Trump and Cruz are both poster childen for what's wrong with the GOP and the fact that the party's base continues to live in some deranged fantasy land is quite comforting to progressives on the other side.

there is only one man speaking any sense and it's Senator Bernie Sanders. Both Cruz and Trump are clinically psychopaths. Empathy rules the day for me.

The year 2020 has caused many white people to realize we live in a racist system. The Green New Deal is about systemic change for all, and deconstructing racism must be front and central in this agenda.

coronavirus pandemic, Donald Trump, Boris Johnson, Jair Bolsonaro, COVID-19 deaths, downplaying coronavirus

By infecting three of the world’s most right-wing leaders, the coronavirus underscored not only the incompetence and irresponsibility of their governments – but the truth that their brand of populism doesn't keep people safe.

COVID-19, corporate bailouts, corporate welfare, corporate destruction

Corporations are not "too big to fail" and, when they commit crimes, they are not "too big to jail." As David Whyte writes in his new book, "Ecocide: Kill the Corporation Before It Kills Us," the moment is now to rein in out-of-control corporate power.

The world has lost an incredible thinker and doer. I have lost an amazing friend. A void exists where before it was filled with David's optimism, humour and joy.
