With lyrics like "I’m a soldier marchin’ in an army / Got no gun to shoot / But what I got is one guitar," Willie Nile's song "One Guitar" could not be more relevant for the day's events. As a bonus, be sure to watch Nile perform with the legendary Bruce Springsteen back in January.

Pete Seeger's "We Shall Not Be Moved" may be most famous as a Civil Rights anthem, but it also started as a labor union song. What could be more appropriate?

Tom Morello will be leading the May Day Guitarmy, so naturally, his influential protest songs written for the Occupy Movement are essential. So do as he says and "sing out loud all night long."

While "This Land Is Your Land" is a favorite with elementary school kids, Woodie Guthrie's classic also addresses important concepts about today's world, with its borders and fences. Start a sing-along with one with your fellow protestors.

“Which Side Are You On?” by Florence Reece is another must-have. It was originally written for mine workers during a union struggle in the 1930s, but its timeless themes fit today's situation perfectly. "Oh workers, can you stand it? Oh, tell me how you can? Will you be a crummy scab or lend us all a hand?"

We have to be smart in how we fight against Trump and the Republican Party this time around. That means picking our battles wisely, and not taking bait that’s dangled in front of our faces.

The way the urban commons create a space to solve material problems and enable social movements to forge city-wide networks are antidotes to people being attracted towards the far-right.

Over the next two years, Democrats have the unfettered ability to be an albatross around the neck of the GOP — and to make sure that what little they manage to get done due to their paper-thin majorities becomes the reason for their undoing.

This last month has shown America that society will gladly tolerate vigilante violence, provided a vigilante chooses the right target.

President-elect Donald Trump isn’t just appointing incompetent buffoons to his Cabinet, but deeply immoral individuals who are completely lacking in family values.

If the Democrats’ theme of 2017 was Resistance, the theme for Democrats in 2025 needs to instead be Opposition — and these two GOP senators may be the models to emulate.
